Van Clenchmonker: Eye for an opportunity
Tactics Truck: Headquarters
Telenovelas: Must stay at least 100 yards away from
In that heady and turbulent spring of 2003, Willhelm Van Clenchmonker arrived from his native land with no more than an old eastern European steam powered computer and a dream. He set up The Onion Bag - a satirical site about the corruptible and contemptable world of association football.
Beautiful day
Published every Monday from the Tactics Truck - the mobile football nerve centre previously used by ITV Sport's Andy Townsend during ITV's ill-conceived and short-lived early evening highlights programme The Premiership - the Bag's writers tour the length and breadth of the land conjuring up ludicrous observations, misguided missives, and utterly false news headlines with the odd gag thrown in. The result is "The best football site the web has to offer."*
But why though?
Because if anything deserves to be exposed for the sham that it is it's the game the we all love most.No really, why?
Bill Shankly once sort of said that football that more important than life or death. If he meant it, he was an arse. It really is only a game and we're here to remind you how silly it all is.Contact details
